So why do we cleanse or reboot? It is essential to break the cycle of dependence on excess saturated fats, refined carbohydrates, processed foods, caffeine and alcohol. Research has shown us that we can not only be healthier, but actually reverse even severe chronic disease by changing to a primarily plant-based diet. Most people are not ready to jump into a plant based diet but even a 3-day reboot can lead to the following benefits:

Preparations

Preparation for a liquids only cleanse is essential. Certain foods, such as coffee, refined sugar, meat, dairy products, wheat, alcohol, and nicotine should gradually eliminated to reduce headaches, cravings, and other withdrawal symptoms.


BEFORE  (2 days)

  • It is important to increase intake of fresh veggies, fruits, and fluids during the pre-boot
  • Eat 4-6 small mostly vegetarian/vegan meals (sample of meal items below)
  • Increase fluid intake
  • Eat a variety of foods but keep menu simple


BREAKFAST: Smoothie with herbal tea.

SNACK: Fresh Juice with pulp or fresh fruit

LUNCH: A small vegetable salad may be eaten or Soup (homemade vegetarian is ideal) or vegetable based juice, hot or cold.

SNACK: Small serving of fresh fruit

DINNER: Two or three vegetables steamed slightly, or a vegetable stew, various types of brown rice dishes (curried rice, Spanish rice, chop suey and rice), chili beans (made with lima beans or red beans), or any recipe using lentils or garbanzos. Vegetarian cutlets, and all similar commercially produced meat substitute preparations, should be used very, very sparingly, or not at all.

AFTER: Juice in the morning. Smoothie for snack. Raw fruit for lunch. Raw vegetable salad at night. You are now ready to eat normally the following day.
